RM114 million - let's speculate
In the recent news, the CCID director of PDRM announced that RM114 million was found in 2 apartments in Kuala Lumpur. In cash. CASH. It took a team 3(THREE) DAYS to complete counting them. Now wait for it... there's also jewellery and perhaps gold bars confiscated by the police. Not forgetting the 284 Hermes bags.
I cannot imagine why anyone or any organisation would want to have RM114 million in apartments. RM114 million might be about ... AUD30 million. Huge amount no less. Then again... who am I? Just a poor church mouse.
If I had just 1% of that ie RM11.4 million, all that money would go to the bank. Better than trying to stash it under my mattress!!
So, let's have some fun and speculate why there was this huge pile in someone's apartment.
1) someone is considering a money changing business
Let's face it, money changing is big business in Malaysia. There are many foreign workers in Malaysia. Many of them come from faraway places like Indonesia & Bangladesh. So this is capital to start the business.
2) run of the bank
Persons or group of persons have no confidence in the Malaysian banks.Hence, they have decided to save in their homes.
3) Another donation from Arabian benefactor
What is RM1 million? 100 million? It is but a number with many zeros. I can't wrap my head around that. Why not hard cold cash? hard cold cash covering an entire playing field...ok, that I can understand. Again perhaps, the recipient prefers keeping in their apartment.
4) They always fantasied being Scrooge McDuck
In the Disney cartoon, Scrooge McDuck would dive into his vault of money like diving into a swimming pool. With that amount of money, it is absolutely possible to swim in money.
5) Someone wants to start operating a bank or fund
Yes, perhaps someone with that kind of money has decided,"I can do it better than a bank. Those bankers... what do they know? Why only a miserly single digit interest on my fixed deposit? They aren't very good if that's all I'm getting"
Ok, that was my whimsical speculation of why RM114 million was found in 2 apartments in KL, Malaysia. recently.
